Makes 32 Round Dumplings
Ingredients
For Filling:
- 4 ENVY™ Apples
- 2 tsp Lemon Juice
- 2 cup Sugar
- 2 tsp Powdered Ginger
- 1 tsp Five Spice Powder
- Pinch of Salt
For Dumplings:
- 64 Round Dumpling wrappers
- Frying Oil (Avocado or Coconut)
- Ginger Sugar: 2 tbs Sugar + 1 tbs Ground Ginger
- Powdered Sugar, Optional
Directions
Make the Filling:
- Peel and core and dice ENVY™ apples then add to a bowl with lemon juice and stir.
- Mix together the sugar, ginger, five spice, and salt then sprinkle over diced Envy.
- Add the ENVY™ mixture to a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 – 15 minutes, until the apples are tender then transfer to a bowl to cool.
Prep the Dumplings:
- Lay two dumpling skins on a flat surface.
- Brush the outer edges of each dumpling with water.
- Spoon a generous tablespoon of filling into the center of one dumpling.
- Place the other dumpling on top, moistened edges together, push any air bubbles out, and seal the edges by pressing together.
- Transfer to a tray for frying.
Fry the Dumplings:
- Heat 1/2-inch of oil in a deep sided frying pan over medium heat to 350°F. (Pro Tip: Put a popcorn kernel in the oil. When it pops, the oil is ready!)
- Fry dumplings, two or three at a time, for about 2 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
- Remove with a slotted spatula to a paper towel-lined cooling rack, and sprinkle with spiced sugar.
- If you want to dust with powdered sugar, wait until the dumplings have cooled.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
