Since 1966, the Apatu family has been committed to growing premium, quality produce on fertile land nestled across the Heretaunga Plains, next to the Ngaruroro River in the Hawke’s Bay of New Zealand.

In 2018, after years of growing a variety of produce, the Apatu Family planted their first apple crop with a focus on harnessing the very best intellectual property (IP) varieties and utilising innovative growing systems.

They have since grown to become the largest independent grower of ENVY™ in the region.

We are third generation orchardists here in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand and we have been growing ENVY™ for over 10 years now. We were one of the first ones to grow this beautiful fruit, and we take great pride and joy in continuing to grow ENVY™. Beautiful appearance with amazing sweetness and crunch, really makes this apple the best apple to eat and grow. Good fertile soil in the plains of Hawke’s Bay along with great climate and weather conditions, helps us to grow the perfect ENVY™ to be sent around the World.

We heard there was another apple with the same parentage as the JAZZ™, a Gala/Braeburn cross but still a totally different apple, and they had pictures of it from New Zealand. And I raised my hand as quick as I could, so to speak. I wanted to get it out into the orchards to see what it was going to perform like. Right away, you see its growth habits and it looked like it was exactly what we needed. There was nothing out there like it in terms of a firm, sweet apple. I don’t think there’s anything that touches it in terms of the density of its flesh and sweetness.
